Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona is a city with a significant LGBT history dating back to 1977 when the first gay demonstration took place, marking a major breakthrough for LGBTQ activism. The Eixample district is a vibrant hub that unites the community. The first Pride Parade was held in 2008 and attracted large crowds. Barcelona’s commitment to equal rights is evident in events like the Circuit Festival, considered Europe’s largest gay clubbing festival. The Gaixample district within Eixample (gai meaning gay in Catalan) is home to numerous LGBT bars, clubs, and cultural centers such as Punto BCN, Arna Classic, Metro Disco, Bacon Bear Bar, and La Chapelle.

Brighton, United Kingdom
Brighton has been a haven for LGBTQ people since the 19th century. The Brighton Pride festival has been held since 1973 and is one of the largest in the UK. The Kemptown district is an iconic area for LGBTQ individuals with its vibrant nightlife and venues. The historic Bulldog Bar, thriving queer arts and music festivals, and the city’s inclusive approach continue to flourish. The Marlborough, a popular pub and theater, hosts drag shows and live performances regularly. Nightclubs like Revenge and Patterns are open for party-goers.
The city also has a sauna and spa for the gay community called The Brighton Sauna.
